TRAINING

Believing that we are on the edge of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is predicted to fundamentally change the way we work, live and relate to one another, the convergence of physical, digital and biological sciences will bring about profound changes in the way we design products and produce them, using either metal, ceramics, polymers, biological materials or composites.

Thus, CDRSP have been established new Postgraduate Programmes to prepare and skill a new generation of work force that can take up the emerging challenges in the area of the Direct Digital manufacturing, engaging both academia and industry.

Consequently, an International Master Programme in Direct Digital Manufacturing of the Polytechnic of Leiria was recently established by CDRSP and approved by the portuguese agency A3ES – Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education. In Portugal, this is the unique postgraduate programme in this field and, to our best knowledge, there are only seven other courses in the world.

Its multidisciplinary approach will support students from different engineering backgrounds. Additionally, we have a PhD Programme with industry in Direct Digital Manufacturing, also certified by A3ES, which is a partnership between Polytechnic of Leiria and University of Minho (Portugal). Moreover, a joint technical course on Direct Digital Manufacturing developed between our Centre and the Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional (IEFP) is ongoing.

Since the formation of CDRSP, many young researchers have been engaged in postgraduate training resulting in the following successful achievements:
