OPORTUNITY FOR RESEARCH POSITIONS AT CDRSP

Two positions available on the Project Stimuli2BioScaffold – Stimuli optimization for BioScaffolds: from numerical modelling to in vitro tests funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

 

 

Goal of the Project: Tissue engineering is playing a key role on the regeneration of cartilage or bone tissues. Stimuli2BioScaffolds intends to contribute to this research area. It main objectives are: i) to develop a new finite element-based framework (FEMf) that allow the optimization of stimulation parameters (mechanical, electrical and magnetic) of in vitro culture seeded on bioscaffolds, placed at a bioreactor, for later implantation, ii) to design and assemble a new bioreactor, iii) to validate the FEMf and the bioreactor using in vitro studies. PhDr and PhD student will be involved in the above tasks. They will be integrated on the multidisciplinary team of CDRSP-IPLeiria in particularly with the Computational and Mathematical Methods and Biofabrication.

 

PhD student + Hired (PhDr) in Mathematics/Physics or Engineering, experience in programming and with the finite element method for 3(1+2) years. Expected starting date: September 2018.

Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Areas

 

The Center for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPLeiria) is looking for a researcher with a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Areas for Computational Simulation / Optimization of metal-graphene inserts made using additive manufacturing within a fellowship of a scientific research join project with FAMOLDE Company (SA). Estimated start date: April 1, 2018 (Duration: 9 months).

 

Desired profile: Expertise and knowledge in mechanical design (3D CAD), computational modeling and simulation (Structural, CDF, kinematics and dynamics), metal materials processing through additive manufacturing technologies and their characterization. Availability for full-time work in flexible hours. Good command of the English language, high degree of autonomy, strong motivation for teamwork.
